The Project
The Whalen Berez Group was contacted by the Joseph Kushner Academy to design and renovate the lobby. The project presented a number of unique needs, including significant architectural millwork, the replacement of the acoustical ceiling, flooring, existing walls, and electrical work. The project also required the installation of bullet-resistant glass and metal entry walls.
Initially, The WBG was asked to identify the scope of the work that could be completed during the summer of 2021, given the significant supply chain issues that affected the availability of many of the required materials. Despite those restrictions, The WBG was able to complete the brand-new acoustical ceiling, all of the flooring, and all of the electrical by the end of the summer.
In January of 2022, the second phase of the project began, which involved the architectural millwork and installation of bullet-resistant glass and metal entryway doors. This phase was completed during a tight window in which the school was shut down for a vacation.
The Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy is an excellent example of how The WBG was able to oversee a successful project on the client’s timeline, resulting in minimal disruption to the ongoing activities of the Academy.
